International Security Events Provide Important Security Insights to Mantra
Welcome to our third Quarterly Newsletter of 2023!
The last few months have been extremely busy with several members of our Senior Management Team participating in important security industry conferences and meetings both in Nigeria and the UK. These conferences provided us with the perfect opportunity to understand the latest security threats and consider how we can incorporate important learnings into our own security services and better serve our Clients in Nigeria.
Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSN)
The ALPSN recently held their Annual General Meeting in Lagos, Nigeria, which was attended by many security industry professionals, and addressed several crucial topics regarding the current security landscape in Nigeria. A thorough evaluation took place of the prevalent security threats and emerging trends in Nigeria, such as cyber threats, terrorism, organised crime and civil unrest.
Additional topics were discussed, such as the importance of reinforcing and complying with security regulations and standards set by the relevant authorities in Nigeria, together with the need to develop improved collaboration between private security practitioners and law enforcement agencies.
Finally, the meeting also addressed the importance of exploring recent advancements in technology and innovation in the security sector in Nigeria and incorporating them into more effective security services.
All of these discussions proved to be extremely useful for our delegation, and we are already using these important insights to provide our Clients with a flawless delivery of our security services in Nigeria.
International Security Expo
The International Security Expo took place in September in London, bringing together a global audience of security professionals to discuss the latest security products and services. The Expo is designed to help security service companies such as Mantra improve the security and resilience of businesses, people and critical infrastructures.
The Expo consisted of several conferences and summits, including topics such as International Security, Risk and Resilience and Cybersecurity.
The Expo was opened by the UK Government Security Minister, Mr Tom Tugendhat, who highlighted the critical need for the private sector and the security industry to work together in order to help tackle crime, terrorism and other such security threats.
The International Security conference held many talks and panel discussions with security experts on a variety of relevant subjects to Nigeria, including how private security companies such as Mantra can support the government in deterring and preventing crime, effective strategies for improving maritime security and new technological innovations in aviation security.
The Risk and Resilience conference included the latest insights from security professionals on the role of security risk management within organisations and ideas on how to test industrial and organisational reliance.
Finally, the increasingly important topic of Cybersecurity was discussed at length, including possible mitigation steps, such as risk management, engagement and training, assessing vulnerabilities, data security and incident monitoring. This is undoubtedly a growing concern for many security professionals and the need to communicate cyber risk to senior management in organisations was deemed to be of paramount importance.
All of these discussions provided valuable insights for our Security Consultancy Team and our Technical Security Team to explore further.
